Las Nenas 2020 Pinot Noir
Sta. Rita Hills, California
The 2020 Co^lluvial™ “Las Nenas” Pinot bottling is grounded in the majesty of California’s Santa Rita Hills AVA (American Viticultural Area). The fruit is drawn from La Rinconada Vineyard and also Santa Rita Ranch. La Rinconada Vineyard was planted in 1997, La Rinconada sits adjacent to the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. Home to 20 vineyard blocks and 12 clones, La Rinconada is also primarily Pinot Noir, complemented by some very special Chardonnay vines. This site enjoys the maritime influences of the Pacific Ocean, in particular the fog and cooling winds provide the perfect conditions for a longer growing season. Santa Rita Ranch, tucked into the far western edge of the appellation, produces fruit with beautiful perfume and vibrant briny notes.
Tasting Notes
“This is also lightly hued. A more restrained and slightly more deeply pitched nose also reflects mostly red berry fruit scents though here there are hints of plum and violet. There is more mid-palate volume and density to the richer medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductive texture, all wrapped in dusty finale that is also sneaky long. I like the balance, and this too should repay mid-term keeping.”- 91Pts/2027+Allen Meadows Burghound Issue#90
Food Pairings
Lovely match for Mexican flare such as Tacos al Pastor or Chicken Enchiladas. Pull Pork Sandwich with Apple Slaw on a toasted brioche. Sushi!
