Las Nenas 2015 Pinot Noir
Santa Maria Valley, California | Riverbench Vineyard
The 2015 Co^lluvial™ “Las Nenas” Riverbench Vineyard Pinot Noir bottling is grounded in the majesty of California’s Santa Maria Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area). The Santa Maria Valley AVA is a very cool growing area in California, classified as Region 1. The appellation’s terroir is a combination of rocky soils, cool climate and ocean influence. The fruit is drawn from the Riverbench Vineyard. Riverbench Vineyard was established in 1973, when the first Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were planted on the property. Riverbench vines are planted on the Santa Maria Bench, which is made up of alluvial soils. These soils are formed of sediment deposited by flowing water thousands of years ago, and contain particles of clay, silt, sand and gravel. Sandstone filled with fossils and remnants of ancient sea life, along with large rocks and river cobble, can be found all over the property, This unique terroir creates the perfect elements that provide the complexity in this bottling both through elegant fruit as well as its exquisite minerality & finesse.
Tasting Notes
Elegance is the word that summarizes this Pinot Noir. Lush and feminine textures seduce at the first sip, then give way to a strong, confident finish of earthy tones and red fruits accompanied by a touch of spice. Aromas of dried strawberry and dried hibiscus, sweet cinnamon and a slight earthy quality. On the palate, this pinot boasts vibrant cherry that evolve into fresh raspberry on the finish. An elegant and easy drinking wine offering commendable balance.
